An IRC bot can be used for a variety of different things, from games like trivia and uno, to channel management like preventing take overs and keeping a ban list. Bots can come as a piece of software that needs to be installed, such as IdleRPG or they can come as a set of scripts that can be run in a client like mIRC, an example of a script bot would be DreamBot.
