IRCD or Ircd2 (which refers to the version 2.x) is the original IRC daemon written by the inventor of IRC which is the base of many other forked IRCds, most notably ircu. It is still developed today and can be obtained from various locations, e.g. on www.irc.org and is mainly being used on IRCnet.
