ZNC is a modular Bouncer service that supports the loading of C++, Perl and Tcl modules. ZNC will remain connected to the chosen IRC network even when you disconnect and shut your pc down. You can later reconnect and ZNCs playback buffer will tell you what you have missed while you where away. ZNC also timestamps the playback logs so you know what time everything happened. ZNC supports SSL

ZNC 1.0 was released in November 2012, this update impleneted a lot of new features as well as the standard bug fixes. Check out the full changelog here[2]
