Template:Source

When you have been led here by clicking on a [Source?] link, then you just came across a statement that some wiki editor thought is likely to be wrong or inaccurate. That wiki editor thought that this statement strongly needs a reference backing it up but couldn't find a reference himself so he put this template in to notify others of the possible weakness or wrong nature of this questionable statement.

What to do now

When you can find a reference to support the statement, add it! When you're not having a useful reference but you are pretty sure the argument is wrong or inaccurate (or pretty sure it is true), share your thoughts with other editors by writing on the talk page so they can get a general idea what you and others think of that questionable statement.

About this template

This template is used to indicate that a specific fact needs to be supported by a valid source because it is considered questionable. You may insert it yourself when the conditions are met, see Help:Guidelines#Objectivity (behind statements and in texts written by others, but also behind statements that you inserted on your own of which you think they should be true but of which you'd like to have supporting references but can't think of any - if you don't think a statement is most likely true then do not even put it into an article!).

Example usage:

 Some questionable fact{{Source}}

Output: Some questionable fact[Source?]

Do never just delete a statement when you aren't completely sure that it is wrong (and if you are that sure, drop some references for that point of view when removing it from the article!): Use this template instead to mark it as controversial.
